Privacy Policy

1. Overview
CUE ("the App") is a personal calendar and task management app for iPhone. Privacy is a core design principle. Your events, tasks, and categories are stored on your device, and optional sync is handled through your personal iCloud account.
We do not sell your data. We do not run advertising or tracking SDKs.
2. Information We Process
2.1 Content You Create
When you use CUE, you create content such as:
- event and task titles
- dates and times
- notes
- categories
- reminder settings
- location text you choose to attach
- optional contextual fields you choose to enter, such as meeting links, provider names, booking references, checklist items, and other event details
This content is stored locally on your device. If iCloud Sync is enabled, this content syncs to your private iCloud (CloudKit) database.
Some content you choose to enter may be sensitive personal information, including health-related appointment details, work meeting links, booking references, or other private life context. CUE treats this as private user content and does not use it for advertising, profiling, or cross-app tracking.
2.2 Apple Calendar Access (EventKit)
CUE may request calendar access to support optional features you initiate:
- importing events from Apple Calendar into CUE as view-only items
- optional syncing/exporting selected CUE events to Apple Calendar
- optional auto-sync/import behavior when enabled in app settings
Calendar access is optional and can be revoked anytime in iOS Settings.
Imported Apple Calendar events are treated as read-only mirrors inside CUE. Changes to imported Apple events should be made in Apple Calendar, not in CUE. You can remove an imported mirror from CUE locally, but CUE does not delete imported Apple events from Apple Calendar. When auto-import is enabled, updates made in Apple Calendar may flow into those imported mirrors in CUE.
2.3 Location Search and Event Locations
CUE lets you search for places and attach location text to events using Apple MapKit search.
CUE does not request device location permission for this feature, and it does not track your movements or collect continuous GPS history.
CUE also does not collect or process weather data.
2.4 Recent Location History (On Device)
To improve usability, CUE stores recent selected locations locally on your device.
- max retained entries: 10
- retention window: 30 days
- storage scope: on-device only (not synced to iCloud)
- protection: encrypted-at-rest handling is enabled on device
- user control: can be cleared at any time in the location picker ("Clear All")
2.5 Notifications
With your permission, CUE schedules local notifications for reminders. These are handled on your device by iOS.
Reminder notifications are designed to show limited event/task information only, such as the title, date/time status (for example, due time, time range, or all-day status), and optional location.
Depending on your iPhone's notification, lock screen, and preview settings, this reminder information may appear on your lock screen, in Notification Center, or in banners.
If you enter sensitive content into event titles or optional detail fields, that content may also appear in notifications depending on your device settings.
2.6 Widgets
If you enable CUE widgets, widget content may display event or task information on your Home Screen, depending on the widget you choose and your device settings.
This may include limited scheduling information such as titles, dates, times, categories, locations, or other event details needed for the selected widget layout.
If you use CUE for sensitive categories such as health appointments, use discretion when enabling widgets because visible widget content may be seen by others with access to your device screen.
3. iCloud Sync (CloudKit)
If iCloud Sync is enabled:
- events, tasks, and categories sync through your personal iCloud account
- data is stored in your private CloudKit database
- sync is handled by Apple's infrastructure
- the developer does not have direct access to your iCloud content
iCloud copies may remain in Apple's infrastructure subject to Apple's own data retention, backup, and recovery policies. You can manage iCloud storage in your device's iCloud settings.
You can disable iCloud Sync at any time in app settings and/or iOS iCloud settings.
4. Subscription and Purchase Data
CUE Pro subscriptions are processed by Apple StoreKit and managed by RevenueCat (acting as subscription infrastructure provider on our behalf).
For entitlement management, RevenueCat/StoreKit may process data such as:
- anonymous customer/subscription identifiers
- purchase status/history
- transaction receipt data
Payments are processed by Apple. We do not receive your full payment card details.
5. Background Remote Notifications
CUE enables the iOS remote-notification background mode to support silent background updates used by platform services (including iCloud/CloudKit sync and subscription status infrastructure). These notifications are used for app state refresh and do not contain your full event/task content payloads.
6. Data We Do Not Collect for Tracking/Ads
- no third-party analytics or ad tracking SDKs
- no IDFA-based advertising tracking
- no sale of personal data
- no cross-app/web behavioral tracking
7. Third-Party Services
CUE integrates with:
- Apple CloudKit (optional sync)
- Apple EventKit (optional calendar access)
- Apple MapKit (location search)
- Apple StoreKit (in-app purchases)
- RevenueCat (subscription entitlement management)
These services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies.
If you choose to open external web links from CUE, such as support links or flight-search links, your browser may connect to the relevant third-party website and share the information needed for that request (for example, a flight number in a search query).
8. Retention, Deletion, and Account Data Removal
- active content remains until you delete it
- deleted items move to Trash for 28 days before permanent removal
- optional automatic cleanup can move completed items straight to Trash when enabled
- recent location history follows the 30-day local retention policy above
To remove data fully:
- delete content in-app
- clear Trash
- remove CUE iCloud data from your iCloud storage (if sync was enabled)
- uninstall the app from your devices
9. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or request portability of data you control — including under the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and other applicable privacy laws. Because core app content is stored on your device and/or your private iCloud account, you can directly manage most data through the app and Apple account settings.

10. Children's Privacy
CUE is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date when changes are made.
